Royal Chitwan National Park

Chitwan national park is situated in southwestern of Nepal and covers 932 sq. km. This is Nepal’s first famous national park for the wildlife safaris. You can see wild elephant; white footed gaur (the world’s largest wild cattle), leopards, wild boar, sloth bear and several species of deer including the spotted, barking, samber and hog deer. It is the home of the one-horned rhinoceros and harbors one of the largest populations of the exclusive and rare Royal Bengal tigers. The swampy areas and numerous ox-bow lakes are a prefect for marsh crocodiles. The park hosts 450 species of birds. The Tharu people who have unique cultural traditions. In Chitwan there are many hotels inside and outside of the park. Usually visitors spend 3 days and 2 nights, but it is also possible to stay longer if you desire.

Bird Watching : An early morning walk through the bush and along the Rapti River, is a must go to view many of the exotic birds, including the Gaint Hombill, lesser plorican and paradise Flycatcher. This apart, the movement of the migratiory birds in the beeshazari Tal. You will be accompanied by our experienced naturalists to this wonderful birder’s paradise.

Elephant Safari : Seated high on the back of a trained elephant exploring the grasslands and core area of the park, you become an integral part of the life of the national park. The elephant safaris, though not the most comfortable rides, is an amazing experience. And it doesn’t take long to spot at least a rhino in these forests.

Elephant Bathing : Just chill out beside the tranquility of the Budhi Rapti River and watch the appealing elephants taking a bath or if it’s too tempting, join them while taking a dip down the river.

Jungle Drive : Drive into the heart of the park for a good chance to spot the rare species. The drive takes you along time worn trails with great opportunities of viewing big animals. Don’t forget to move on to kasara-the park headquarters wherein you will get the chance to visit the kasara durbar and the crocodile breeding centre. The centre is housed with a number of breeding and hatching ponds to produce and rear the animals until they are ready for release in the wild.

Canoeing : A journey down the Rapti River in a traditional dugout canoe offers you the chance to quietly observe the exotic species of birds and animals that come for a slip at the water’s edge.
Observation Tower Be calm and quite on the 22 feet high wooden tower built in the prime location of the park, which offers unique chances to see the movement of the animals in the wilderness.

Nature Walk : Walk out and stretch your legs deep into the forest accompanied by professional naturalists as they share their extensive knowledge with you on your way to prime sports in quest of rare and endemic species. Be on the look out for the great one horned rhinoceros, wild boar, sloth bear, bison, gangetic dolphins, gharial crocodile and the Royal Bengal Tiger.

Elephant Breeding Center : Of all the animals, elephants are probably the most graceful. Our naturalists will take you to the Hattisar to demonstrate how elephants meals are prepared and how they Eat meals in the breeding centre. They will explain the nature and habits of elephants. The unique centre was established in 1985 for the captive breeding of domesticated so as to avoid the pressure of wild elephants trapping for domestication.

Tharu Stick Dance : These people living in the jungle area have developed an expertise in the use of sticks, which was used as weapon both for attack and defense at the times of real danger especially against the wild animals. This has now developed into an art form - the stick dance which is danced for every festive occasions and gathering glorifying the skills of their ancestors.

Itinerary in Detail

Day 01 :

Arrival at Kathmandu, transfer to Hotel

Day 02 :

Dive to Chitwan (half day rafting on Trisuli river), observe the Tharu culture dance in the evening.

Day 03 :

Jungle Activities in Chitwan national park like cannoning, Elephant riding, Jungle walk, visit to Elephant breeding center)

Day 04 :

Bird watching at Chitwan and drive to Pokhara

Day 05 :

Drive/fly back to Kathmandu

Day 06 :

Free day in Kathmandu

Day 07 :
