Overland Tour

The trip begins by drive from Kathmandu to Nyalam. Then we make our most fascinating tour to explore around Xigar, Xigatse, Gyantse, Tsedang and Lhasa to observe its cultural heritage across widely spread open spaces of the Tibetan Plateau. Finally, we take the trip back to Kathmandu from Lhasa by fly. This is truly the trip of a lifetime with stunning scenery and cultural highlights.

Itinerary in Detail

Day 01 :

Kathmandu - Nelyam (3,600m)- 153 km
0Departure at 0530hrs from Himalayan Trail Finder Adventure Centre’s Office in T0h000amel. Approx 05 hours drive to Kodari (China/Nepal Boarder). Half an hours drive to Zhangmu. After completion of immigration formalities we drive further to NELYAM following the Bhote Koshi River in a deep valley. Overnight in guest house.

Day 02 :

Nelyam - Lhatse (4,050m)-285km
Drive through NELYAM PASS (3800m) with the view of JUGAL HIMAL. A continued drive via LALUNGLA PASS (5050m) has some of the most outstanding view of Mt. Xixapangma(8013m),Mt. Makalu(8,464m), Mt. Lhotse(8516m), Mt.Cho Oyu98,201m)and Mt. Everest(8,848m). Overnight in Guest House.

Day 03 :

Lhatse - Xigatse (3,900m)-150km
Depending on the road condition we will visit Shakya Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in Tibet, which is 52km off the main road. Drive to Xigatse, the place of the famous Tashilumpo Monastery and the seat of Panchen Lama. Overnight in hotel.

Day 04 :

Xigatse - Gyantse (3,950m)-90km
Morning visit the Tashilumpo Monastery including the Bazaar of Xigatse. Drive to Gyantse takes 02 hrs. Gyantse is small bustling town steeped in history. In the 15th century it serced as the capital of a small Kingdom. Visit Kumbum Chorten which was built around 1400ad and later became the main center for trade with British India. Overnight in hotel.

Day 05 :

Gyantse - Lhasa (3,650m)-261km
08 hrs. drive takes you to Lhasa crossing the Karo La Pass(5010m)and Kamba La Pass(4,794m). The Karo La climbs between two lofty mountains.

Day 06-07 :

In Lhasa
Sightseeing and excursions of THE POTALA PALACE, THE JOKHANG TEMPLE, surrounding BARKHOR market, DREPUNG MONASTRY and SERA MONASTERY. Overnight in Hotel.

Day 08-09 :

In Lhasa
Two free days in Lhasa wondering independently bearing all expences including all meals and lodging.

Day 10 :

Lhasa - Lhatse
A long drive of approximately 7 hrs. leaving Lhasa behind taking the New route skipping Gyantse. Overnight in guest house.

Day 11 :

Lhatse - Zangmu
Drive from Lhatse to Zhangmu for approximately 8 hrs. Overnight In Guest house.

Day 12 :

Zangmu - Kathmandu
After immigration formalities drive to Kathmandu.
